Statues

This picture (of the Rathaus in Hamburg) involved a spot of work with the marvellous, if unfortunately titled, Gimp. I copied the three statues into layers and saturated the green on the bronze. Then I converted the background to a sepia tone and then returned it to a more natural tone, which is really a round-about way of washing it out almost completely. The point of the exercise being to make the statues really stand out, which they do a little too much. Still: it's been an interesting lesson in the advantages of digital...

Hi Cuarán,

Thanks for stopping by my site and glad to hear you liked my photos. I just launched the site and upload photos on a daily basis. As for your question, this site is a combination of photoshop CS2 designing and some CSS coding but the core gallery is from Adobe Lightroom. I am using a modified gallery file from http://blog.bluefire.tv/?cat=4
because the Lightroom software doesn't allow you add new menus to the flash gallery file. I basically manage the site manually but organize the photo albums with Lightroom at this point. I hope you find this useful. Let me know if I could be of any help if you're planning to go down this path.

Cheers and keep shooting the shots :-)

Hi Ali: thanks very much for the tips: I'm not sure Lightroom will be good for me as a Linux user, but I'll investigate after Christmas (too much work on at the moment). Keep up the good work - as I said, your site looks fantastic!
